Gerbera flower farming inside greenhouses in India

From previous posts,we know the advantages of farming flower plants inside Greenhouses. Now its time to go in detail about some economically important flowers and its cultivation inside Greenhouses.Gerbera is one of the economically important flower plant and the flowers are widely used in stage decoration field. So its demand is very high and it ensures maximum return from its flowers.

Gerbera plant require a special type of climate like minimum wet and dry condition.Excess of dryness or wet condition will ruin the plant. This speciality makes it difficult to grow in outside natural condition in India, where either heavy rain or dry conditions occur. But Greenhouse shelter can provide solution for it,where we can control dry and wet conditions effectively.Drip irrigation system can help to control watering and fertilization effectively.

For Gerbera farming,we need to construct a Greenhouse shelter of suitable size(at least 10 cents). Then a mixture of sand, compost and soil should be arranged in raw to plant the Gerbera plants.High productive plants can be arranged from Bangalore or from Agricultural universities.Great care should be taken while growing plants.Regular fertilization and fungus controlling is essential.More details can be collected from nearby Gerbera farmer or from Government agencies such as Horticultural mission or Agricultural Universities.

Gerbera flowers are widely used in lots of social occasions as decoration materials.Almost all Event management teams require Gerbera flowers. Now they are arranging flowers from Bangalore due to non-availability in local market. This leaves Greenhouse farmers a Golden chance. So its a good time to study about Gerbera plants and implement it in our greenhouse..

    1. Better you buy Tissue cultured Gerbera plants. Thus you can ensure the quality of plants you can get.You can get the Nursery details easily by doing some googling and visiting them.Greenhouses protects the plants from external factors such as raining, temperature etc.As Gerbera plants are very much sensitive to external factors,it is adviced to grow them in protected enviornment.

    1. In my knowledge, there is no perfect cure for Botrytis Disease. Some pesticides may help you to reduce its attack. The only solution is to prevent it from entering inside Greenhouses. Avoid moisture being tapped among leaves.Reduce the usage of Nitrogen fertilizers.Good air ventilation will help you to reduce the impact.

If you have serious trouble, consult near Government Agricultural university. They may help you by visiting your farm..
