Oyster and Milky Mushrooms

 Oyster,Milky and button Mushrooms are the main mushroom breeds cultivated in India. Among these,Oyster and milky mushrooms are commonly farmed in Kerala.Oyster mushroom is shown in this image.It is shaped like an Oyster shell.It is very soft and should be used in the same day after harvesting.Milky mushrooms are pure white and having typical mushroom shape and size.They can be stocked up to one week.They are having high sale potential compared to Oyster mushrooms.Below are some facts related to Oyster and Milky mushrooms.

  • Oyster Mushrooms require immediate use after harvesting.Milky mushrooms can last up to one week.
  • Oyster Mushrooms not require sunlight and soil.But Milky mushrooms require both.
  • Milky mushrooms have high market potential compared to Oyster mushrooms
  • Oyster mushrooms are tastier than Milky mushrooms
  • Oyster mushrooms are suitable for small scale farming and Milky mushrooms are suitable for medium,large and High tech farming.
Growing both type of mushrooms in a farm will bring better results,But it require lots of knowledge and hard work.So it will be better to start with Oyster or Milky mushrooms and later farm other types of mushrooms.
