Budget 2020-21: 16 Points to Boost Agriculture Income

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented 16 points during Union Budget 2020-21 presentation to boost Agriculture income of farmers in India.This is the road map by Government of India for doubling farmers income by 2022.The main highlights of these 16 points are  strengthening of self help groups,Promotion of Fish farmers organisations,more infrastructures such as warehouses,cold storages etc and job generation plan by involving youth in Fisheries sector.The list of 16 action points are given below.Requesting all of you to go through these points and understand where government is investing/allocating funds/schemes/promoting and take action accordingly to get maximum benefit from this opportunity.

  • Encourage state governments to take up model agricultural laws such as Model agricultural land leasing act of 2016,Model agricultural produce and livestock and marketing act of 2017 and Model agricultural produce and livestock contract farming and services promotion and facilitation act of 2018.-If implemented successfully,these model agricultural Laws are capable to ease the lives of farmers and entrepreneurs very progressively.
  • Budget 2020 proposed comprehensive measures  for 100 water stressed districts in India.Government aims to address the water scarcity issues faced by these districts in a big way.
  • Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evem Utthan Mahabhiyan(PM KUSUM) scheme to be renovated with including solar power and aims to help 20 lakh farmers to set up solar pumps.
  • Government to encourage Balanced use of Fertilizers.
  • Agricultural warehouses,Cold storages,Inventory storages to be promoted. NABARD will fund the schemes.This is much needed for the infrastructure expansion of Agriculture sector.
  • Village storage scheme to be run by Self Help Groups.
  • KRISHI UDAAN Scheme and KISAN RAIL  Schemes for logistic and transportation needs of Agriculture and allied Industries.
  • One Product One District focus on Horticulture.
  • NABARD Re financing scheme to be expanded.
  • Doubling of Milk production capacity by 2025.
  • Formation of Fish farmers organisations and encouraging youth in Fisheries sector.
  • Expansion of Self Help Groups.
  • Government Aims to Eliminate Foot and Mouth Disease by 2025.
  • Agricultural Credit availability to be set as 15 Lakh crore for 2020-21.
  • RS 1.23 Lakh crore to be allocated for Rural Development.
  • Framework for Development,Management and Conservation of Marine Fishery Resources to be put in place.

Through these 16 action points,Government aims to boost the agriculture sector and increase the job generation in a big way.We wish the initiatives taken by Government will help farmers to boost their income.
