Rainy season diseases in pigeons and steps to prevent them

  Now Rainy season is its middle stage in India.It is the time when all pigeon breeders worry about their birds.Every year lots of diseases pop-up during this time and kill lots of birds.The sales will be less this time and it is hard to run the business.But by taking some cares,we can minimise the impact of diseases.Lets discuss about some common diseases which spread during raining time and how we can avoid them.

Common Diseases and issues during Rain season

• Paratyphoid(Salmonella):Unsanitary conditions and contaminated feeds are the main reasons behind this disease.
• Coccidiosis: Unsanitary  surroundings are main reason.
• Canker: Poor feed and loft conditions increase the chance of the disease
• Worms
• Mites

     By closely analysing,we can realize that above issues are mainly caused by poor loft conditions during rainy season.Watery surroundings and contaminated feed add fire to the issues.So to avoid or minimize these issues,what we can do?.Lets discuss about it.

Prevention Steps

• Observe Loft and birds Daily.Any abnormality should be noted and treated.
• Clean Loft and surroundings daily.
• Use new feeds only.Avoid stocking large volume.
• Use pure water and use clean plates for feeding.
• Give immunization medicines in every two weeks.
• Allow fresh air to the loft and allow pigeons to take some wing exercises daily.
• Prevent water entry to the loft.
• Loft and surroundings should be disinfected each week.
• Try not to breed pigeons in rainy season.
• Inactive birds should be kept alone.
• Stock some medicines for immediate use.

   Above points are not a complete method to eliminate diseases.Whatever we do there is something beyond our control.But that is not a reason for just watching.Hope these points may help you to successfully prevent diseases from your pigeon Loft.
