Organic Vegetable and fruit farming

Organic farming
Organic farming is not a new concept in India. It is being followed in India from ancient time. But after Green revolution, priority got changed and now only small percentage of farmers are following Organic farming. Organic way of Vegetable and fruit gardening attracts big interest among people who love earth, nature, and organic way of living. It is also a subject which should be promoted for the sustainability of our life on earth. So for the benefit of both earth and our life, let us try to know about vegetable and fruit gardening and ways to implement it in our life.

What is Organic Farming?

Organic farming is a method of farming where Earth, plants, products, environment and micro organisms are taken into consideration. It is primarily aimed at cultivating the land, keep the soil alive and healthy thus produce natural products. In Organic farming nature is getting benefited whereas we get natural products.

Organic Vegetable and fruit farming is today's need. Most of the vegetables and fruits we get from market contain poisonous pesticides and chemicals which can cause dangerous diseases like cancer. So it is our responsibility to encourage Organic farming and chemical free products. The more Organic products you buy, more farmers will start to produce Organic products.Actually people are getting awareness about it and are ready to pay more for Organic products.

Organic farming is not only a business which can give a good income, but a hobby which give lots of pleasure, satisfaction, mental strength, relax etc in our daily life.We never get such golden moments while doing any other works. So it is very important that everyone should have a small Organic garden for cultivating Organic vegetables and fruits for their daily use.You will surely get benefited out of it.You can also have a small greenhouse farm on your terrace to meet your daily vegetable requirement.

There are lots of things to be taken care before we start farming.Implementing organic farming is the right way to love our nature. So planning is very important. We can check various aspects of vegetable and fruit farming in coming posts..

Raising pigeons in Apartments:a side business opportunity

Its is a small type of business opportunity for those who live in city areas to raise fancy pigeons and sell them in nearby bird shop. The availability of fancy pigeons will be less in city areas so demand and price will be high.So it is a time pass and income opportunity for those who stay in city area apartments. This post is about raising one or two pairs of fancy pigeon in our apartment.

Providing nest for pigeons is not a problem if we own some land or we have our own house plot. But if we are living in an apartment,or in flats, providing nest for our fancy pigeon is a big question.Due to this issue, lots people living in city area hesitate to own a pigeon even if they love pigeons.

Here i am giving some suggestions to those who love to raise pigeons in their apartment premises. These are not fault proof ideas, but you can alternate it to form your suitable one.

Nest materials

The main thing we have to consider is that pigeons are more concerned about the comfortability, safety of the nest etc than its beauty. So try to build the nest with strong and natural things.Try to keep coconut hays, leafs, tobacco stems like materials in the nest to feel it more natural. The size of the nest box should be enough for the free movement of the bird, but oversize is not required as the space is limited in our apartment. You can either purchase suitable sized pigeon nest box or you can build one using available materials in our apartment.Ensure enough ventilation inside the nest box.

Nest position

The next question is about the place where we keep our pigeon nest box. As we are concerned about the apartment, certain things like children, neatness of the apartment, security of the apartment should be considered. Fancy pigeons are very beautiful, but their nests are not.The nest will become dirty very fast.So the location of pigeon nest should be in such a way that its away from main receiving hall, bedrooms, kitchen etc.You can also keep some play areas for birds in apartment, but should not keep them there for long period.

Mind setting

It is not an easy job to clean pigeon nest every day and ensure its neatness. So your mind should be set to face these things before you decide to own a pigeon pair in your apartment.

Locate the market

Do a visit to your nearby bird shop and analyse their requirement. You can also check with your friends, neighbors to know their interests.Keep in mind that you are not targeting huge market as the chicks available with you will be limited so the marketing won't be difficult.

Select the Breed

Selecting Fancy pigeon should be based on your interest, market trend, comfortability to raise etc.You should have an idea about this from the beginning of your plan.

The rest of the things like breeding, providing food etc are not that much important as you are raising one or two pairs. The important things are your interest and neatness of the pigeon nest.
